KUDOS: Again, community stepped up for a playground for everyone

To Ozaukee Press:

For the past five months, I’ve worked with the most dedicated, smart, organized, selfless group of people. The Possibility Playground Committee, the same ones who started this group 11 years ago, never skipped a beat when planning the playground rebuilding and addition.

These remarkable women, Mardy McGarry, Sue Mayer, Melissa Niemeyer and Greta Schanen, met every week since July to ensure everything was in place for the weeklong event last week. With every child in mind, they helped to build something this whole community can embrace, and they deserve due recognition.

As meal and food coordinator, I want to thank all the generous people who supplied food, beverages and snacks to our playground building volunteers. On any given day, people would drive by and drop things off, especially on days when we put out a plea through social media. We also had church groups, restaurants and local meat markets that stepped up to help us out when we had to feed our workers breakfast, lunch and dinner during the build week.

Thank you to the numerous volunteers, along with Christ the King Church, Living Hope, Peace Lutheran, Port Fire Department, St. John’s Lutheran, Seven Hills Pub and Grill, St. John XXIII, The Patio, Bernie’s Meats, Harborview, Saukville Meats, Java Dock, Smith Bros., Parkside Church, Mel’s Charities, Frieden’s Church and Shorewest Realty for preparing and serving meals to our hard-working volunteers.

And thank you, Janet Trcezinski, for your willingness to help me.
