Jumping worms to be discussed
University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum ecologist Brad Herrick will present up to date information on the invasive Asian jumping worm during a free 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, program sponsored by the Ozaukee Master Gardeners at the South Pavilion at the fairgrounds.
Herrick will discuss the damage being caused by the Asian jumping worms to leaf litter in northern forests and why these animals are a concern to the overall ecological health of Wisconsin.
He will also talk about the speed of consumption of organic matter and steps that can be taken to identify and control the spread of the worm.
