James L. Wollner

James Wollner of Grafton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at the age of 85 years.

Jim was born in the streetcar station in Grafton on Sept. 9, 1934.  He was the son of the late Leo Wollner and the late Irene (nee Paulin) Wollner.

He attended school in the Grafton School District and graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of ’52.

Jim served his community as the assistant fire chief in Grafton from 1952 until 1978.

He was united in marriage to Valerie (nee Durbin) on Nov. 26, 1977, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grafton.

Shortly after they were wed, Jim and Valerie owned and operated the Redstone Tavern in Saukville. Together they ran the bar until 1992.

Prior to Jim running the bar, he drove trucks for the Grafton Truck Line, Schmit Ford and Freeman Chemical as well as Dickmann Manufacturing.

When Jim wasn’t putting in the countless hours of work, he could be found watching Wisconsin sports, including Bucks, Packers, Brewers and Badger games. He loved his teams and was a loyal fan.

Jim is survived by his wife Valerie Wollner of Grafton; son Tim (Christine) Brogli of Grafton; daughter Dawn (Steve Weyker) Brogli of Port Washington; grandchildren Nathan Brogli, Christian Brogli, Alex Wilmanns and Katie Brogli; and great-grandchild Scott Brogli. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Scott Brogli, brother Francis (Betty) Wollner and sister Virginia (Fred) Dickmann.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Deacon Al Lazaga of St. Joseph Catholic Parish will conduct the services.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4 until 6:15 p.m.
