Healthy soil workshop to be held Feb. 6

Local farmers can learn about improving the soil health and profitability of their farms at a Soil Health Workshop to be held  from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Ozaukee County Fairgrounds Pavilion.

The featured speaker will be Russel Hedrick, a farmer from North Carolina.

Hedrick was winner of the 2016 North Carolina Dryland No-till Yield Contest and received the 2014 North Carolina Innovative Young Farmer of the Year award for his use of new technologies and cover crops.

Hedrick and other local farmers will discuss the use of cover crops and no-till practices.

A free lunch will be served.

The event is sponsored by the Milwaukee River Watershed Clean Farm Families and the Ozaukee County Demonstration Farm Network.
