Grafton High School’s volleyball team finished .500 in Lindsay Schauer’s first year at the helm and landed two players on all-North Shore Conference teams.

Sophomore Abby Proefrock made the second team and junior Sara Paschke earned honorable mention.

Proefrock was in the top 10 in the NSC for kills and digs. She had 241 kills and made 254 digs.

“Abby was a huge part of our team this year as our biggest offensive threat as well as a defensive standout. She has an amazing volleyball IQ and takes her game seriously. As a sophomore, to handle the leadership expectations that were put on her, we could not have asked for more,” Schauer said.

“She has a great attitude and always puts the needs of the team first. I’m so excited to have her for two more seasons.”

Paschke led the Black Hawks with 312 digs.

“We knew from the beginning of the year that we would be a defensively strong team and that Sara would lead that charge. She not only touches balls that other back row players can’t, she also moves to cover the court and communicates with her teammates at a very high level,” Schauer said.

“Sara brings a fun energy that does not go unnoticed. I feel that playing next to her did a lot to make our other defensive players better — they fed off of her hustle and determination to touch everything.”

The Black Hawks went 13-13 on the season and 4-5 in the North Shore Conference. Slinger won the NSC with a 9-0 record and West Bend West was second at 8-1. Both teams had two first team selections.
