Golfers try to go low late in season

Grafton’s golf team took seventh and Port Washington ninth at Monday’s North Shore Conference golf meet at the Washington County Course in the Town of Hartford. Grafton had 176 strokes. Jaden Polack led with a 42. Andrew Henning and Tyler Tsui each had 44. Adam Schnell shot 46 and Jacob Aleknavicius 47. Port had 184 strokes. Antonio Feciskonin shot 41 for 10th place. Nolan Mueller had a 46, Chad Spaeth a 47 and Dan Barney a 50. Max Kelly shot 51. Homestead won with 157 strokes. “I thought my guys should have played much better. They need to take what they do in practice and bring it to the course. Play relaxed and have fun,” Port coach Scott Kosidowski said. At the 14-team Ashenfelter Invite on Saturday at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville, Grafton took 10th with 364 strokes and Port 11th with 366. Oregeon won with 318. Schnell shot 86, Henning 90, Polack 93 and Tsui 95. For Port, Spaeth birdied his final hole and shot 84, Feciskonnin 87, Mueller 94 and Reilly Sullivan 101. Both teams were scheduled to play the Irish Course at Whistling Straits on Wednesday in the North Shore Conference meet. Cedar Grove-Belgium’s golf team on Monday took seventh of 12 teams at the Big East Conference Mini-Meet at Wandering Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf. The Rockets had 196 strokes. Howards Grove won with 169. Brandon Wieberdink shot 41, Jacob Luebke 50, Brayd Heyden 52 and Brett Mentink 53. The Rockets were scheduled to play at Blackwolf Run in Kohler on Tuesday and at Quic Qui Oc for the conference meet on Thursday.
