A gift of food for Thanksgiving

While many people worry about eating too much on Thanksgiving, others wory they won’t have enough to eat on the holiday or the other 364 days of the year, which was the reason for a recent gathering at Bernie’s Fine Meats in Port Washington. There, Jim Schmit, co-owner of Schmit Bros. (front), donated 100 turkeys to the Port Washington and Saukville Community food pantries, as is tradition for the Saukville auto dealership. Also on hand were Chris Flint, director of the Port Food Pantry (front right), as well as (middle row, from left) Tom Caravella, Saukville Food Pantry Director Mark Gierach, Chuck Prendergast, (back row) Bernie’s owner Steve Bennett, John Zalewski and Randy Lanser. Caravella, Prendergast and Lanser are Port Food Pantry volunteers, Zalewski volunteers at the Saukville pantry.                                                                                                                             Photo by Sam Arendt
