DES reading celebration

Students at Dunwiddie Elementary School in Port Washington walked into their classrooms on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to find their teachers dressed as storybook characters С mostly characters from Dr. Seuss books (top photo) С as part of the school’s Read Across America Day celebration. The official observance is March 2 every year С Dr. Seuss’ birthday С but because of the importance of reading and the fact students did not have classes on that day, the school marked Read Across American Day with several early events, including an assembly.
