Two Grafton/Cedarburg Bullhawk gymnasts competed against the best in the state in Wisconsin Rapids last Saturday.

Senior Paige Arnold took ninth on floor exercise with a 9.25, and freshman Lauralei Zautner took 18th on vault with an 8.9 in Division 1 individual competition.

Hartford sophomore Emily Perkowski won floor with a 9.4.

Marshfield junior Gracie Holland won vault with a 9.567.

Arnold and Zautner earned their spots at state at the Hartford Sectional on Feb. 23.

Arnold took third in floor exercise with a 9.2, and Zautner took fourth on vault with a 9.1.

The top five place winners from the sectional qualify for state.

The Bullhawks scored 137.625 points and took fourth in the eight-team sectional. Hartford won with 143.7.

“They earned their highest score all season long,” coach Siri Bartlein said. “There were a lot of nerves throughout the day as they wanted to perform their best.”

The team received additional honors at the Wisconsin High School Gymnastics Association banquet last week.

Mia Ketelhohn was named District Gymnast of the Year, one of six chosen throughout the state. She earned second team all-state on floor with an average score of 9.285.

Zauter earned all-state honorable mention with an average of 8.72.

“We have many accomplishments to be proud of this season,” Bartlein said.
