Ansay Development will hold a public information meeting about its proposed Newport Shores development from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Newport Shores restaurant.

The meeting will be an open house, with the project architect, real estate agents and representatives of Ansay on hand to answer questions and listen to concerns.

Ansay Development, in partnership with John Weinrich, owner of Newport Shores restaurant, is proposing to construct a multi-use lakefront building that would house offices, condominiums, a restaurant and pub as well as a retail store.

The project would be built on the site of the current Newport Shores restaurant and an adjoining house and garage, as well as city land to the south.

Ansay would replace the Kiwanis shelter with a pavilion, and the city’s fish cleaning station would also be relocated.

In addition to concerns about the sale of city-owned land, some residents have expressed concern about the L-shaped building’s modern design and the building height, which reaches 59 feet in spots.

The Common Council is expected to act on an exception to the 35-foot building height limit and the proposed sale of the city-owned land when it meets Tuesday, March 20.
