All About Herbs

The first in a series of three “All About Herbs” lectures will be held Thursday, March 15.

The talks will be held at 7 p.m. at The Pavilion at the Ozaukee County fairgrounds in Cedarburg.

“Gardening for Bees and Other Pollinators” will be presented by Jennifer Lazewski, a Master Gardener volunteer and expert in native bees and other pollinators. She will discuss the herbs and other plants that will attract and help these insects thrive.

“Hop to It! Hops, the Herb of the Year” is the topic for the Wednesday, April 11, program.

Peggy Gibbs-Zautke, an herb gardener at the Boerner Botanical Gardens, and Herb Zautke, a home brewing specialist, will present the program on how to successfully grow hops and the many uses of the plant.

The final lecture in the series, “Pots, Baskets and Troughs: Growing Herbs in Containers,” will be presented Wednesday, May 2, by Nino Ridgway, owner of Herbs and Everlastings.

The cost of each presentation is $8.

Herbal refreshments will be served.

The presentations are sponsored by the Ozaukee Master Gardeners and the Herb Society of America — Wisconsin Unit.
