A 22-year-old Town of Port Washington woman was seriously injured in a one-car rollover crash on Highway KK Monday afternoon, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department.

Emily Demge was taken from the scene of the accident about a half-mile north of Willow Road in the Town of Port Washington to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa by a Flight for Life helicopter.

She was in critical condition shortly after the crash, Lt. Christy Knowles said. Her condition Tuesday was not known.

Demge, who was the only person in the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, was driving north on Highway KK when her car drifted across the center line at a curve in the road at 3:38 p.m., Knowles said.

The car drove off the west side of the highway and into a field, where it struck a tree.

Authorities do not believe speed, weather, alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident, Knowles said.

It is not known if Demge was wearing a seat belt. She was out of the car when authorities and emergency responders arrived, Knowles said, but it is believed bystanders who tried to help her pulled her out of the car.

A section of Highway KK was closed for about 90 minutes.
