Blarney will perform at Grafton’s Veteran’s Memorial Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, as part of the Gala Concert in the Park series.

Michael McDermott will perform alternative rock at Port Washington’s Veterans’ Memorial Park bandshell during the Freeport Music National Fridays series at 7 p.m. Friday, July 25. Juniper Tar will open the show.

“Chicago” will be performed by the Port Summer Theatre in the Port Washington High School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturay, July 25 and 26, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27. The musical is recommended for people ages 13 and older. Advance tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the door, $6 for senior citizens and children 10 and younger. Advance tickets may be purchased at Port Washington State Bank, Ozaukee Bank and M&I Bank or at the Port recreation center and senior center.

Holland Festival will be held in Cedar Grove from July 25 and 26. The event includes street scrubbing, klompen dancers, woden show races, a craft fair, children’s entertainment, music, raffles, a two-mile run-walk and 10k run, coed volleyball tournament, wooden shoe carving, parade and worship service. Brat fry to benefit Possibility Playground, an accessible playground to be built in Port Washington in September, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Blau’s Saukville Meats on Highway 33 in Saukville. Chicken and pork brats, burgers, chips and sodas will be available. Sponsored by Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Washington.

Wii open gaming sessions will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Grafton library, as well as from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Port Washington City Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27, in the bandshell at Veterans Memorial Park.

Gary Clausing will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, on the Paramount Plaza in Grafton as part of the Tuesday Tunes series.

Kids From Wisconsin will perform at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Port Washington High School auditorium. General seating tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 21 and younger. Reserved seating tickets for $16 may be purchased at the Port Washington Sentry Foods, Port State Bank, Ozaukee Bank, Grafton State Bank, Port High and at the door.

Ozaukee County Fair will run from Wednesday, July 30, through Sunday, Aug. 5, at the fairgrounds and Fireman’s Park in Cedarburg. Featured will be 4-H and open class exhibits, animals, midway rides, truck and tractor pulls, pageants, motorcycle drags, demo derbies, the Ozaukee Idol contest, music and more. The Hecker Kelley Band will perform blues and classic rock as part of the Freeport Music Local Thursdays concert series at 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, in the bandshell at Veterans Memorial Park in Port Washington.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” will be presented by Lakeshore productions at Random Lake High School at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 31 to Aug. 2, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3. Lions Fest fish derby will be held at the Kiwanis Pavilion north of the Port Washington marina from Aug. 1 to 3. A fishing derby, music, food and children’s entertainment are part of the event.

Geoff Landon and the Wolfpack will perform at Veterans Memorial Park in Grafton as part of the GALA concert series from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Luxembourg American Heritage Weekend will be held in Belgium from Aug. 7 to 10. The events include music, a Friday gala dinner auction, Saturday morning run and walk, Luxembourg Fest parade, Sunday pageant and out door Mass and weekend tours of the new Luxembourg American Cultural Center. Luxembourg American
Research Center


The Luxembourg American Research Center at 755 Main St., Belgium, has an extensive collection of archival resources pertaining to genealogy and history for Luxembourg American families and communities throughout the United States and for families and communities in northern Ozaukee County, no matter the nationality.

Admission is $5. Members of the Luxembourg American Cultural Society and Port Washington Historical Society will be admitted free.

Farmers’ markets

Port Washington Farmers’ Market is from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from July 5 through October, except on July 19, in the 100 block of East Main Street in downtown Port Washington.

Interfaith Caregivers

A coalition of churches in Ozaukee County, Interfaith Caregivers provides services for elderly, frail, homebound and physically challenged residents. The Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the basement of the rectory at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Use the back entrance.


Health

Ozaukee County immunization clinics provides vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, rubella, mumps, polio, haemophilus, chickenpox and hepatitis B. Tuberculosis skin tests and the chickenpox vaccine are available at all sites except Mequon. The hepatitis B vaccine is given in three doses over the six-month period. The first two shots are given a month apart and the last one five months after the second shot.

There is a $7 charge for all children’s vaccines and tests, based on the ability to pay. The fee for adult vaccines varies, depending on the shot. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone younger than 18. Sponsored by the Ozaukee County Public Health Department.

Vaccines are by appointment only at the Ozaukee County Administration Center, 121 W. Main St., Port Washington; and the Mequon Safety Building, 11300 N. Buntrock Ave.

Blood pressure screenings are offered by the county public health department from noon to 2 p.m. the first Friday of each month at U.S. Bank, N61 W6312 Turner St., Cedarburg; from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Walgreen’s, 829 E. Green Bay Ave., Saukville; from 6 to 8 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Seton Building lobby at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon; and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. the fourth Wednesdays of the month at Walgreens Drug Store in Thiensville.

Blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol screenings are offered by the county public health department by appointment from 2 to 4:30 p.m. the last Monday of each month. There is no cost for the blood pressure screening. The cholesterol and diabetes test is $25. For information, call 284-8170 or 238-8170.

Wisconsin Cancer Care Line at 1-800-622-8922 is staffed by counselors from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays to provide accurate, confidential information about cancer. At other times, leave a name and telephone number and the call will be returned. Sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and Clinical Cancer Center.

Cancer Society Loan Closet lends equipment for cancer patients, including wigs, disposable and hospital-type equipment. Contact the Harbor Club, 425 Walters St., Port Washington, at 268-1800.

Women, Infants and Children Nutrition program holds weekly clinics at the Ozaukee County Administration Center, 121 W. Main St., Port Washington. Lead screenings available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for children six months to 5 years at the Ozaukee County Administration Center, 121 W. Main St., Port Washington. Appointments are not necessary, but are helpful. Call 284-8170 or 238-8170.

Venous edema and lymphedema screenings for swelling in the arms, legs or chest will be done at Cedar Haven Rehabilitation Agency in Grafton. Free screening done by physical or occupations therapist certified in lymphedema treatment. Call 375-4877 for information.

Distance Education Courses (ETN) encompass everything from libraries and information studies to medical seminars and agri-business. Offered by the University of Wisconsin-Extension through its office in the Ozaukee County Administration Center, 121 W. Main St., Port Washington. Financial, credit counseling

Anyone with questions about saving for the future, reducing debts, establishing repayment plans and setting up realistic spending plans can obtain free, confidential help through the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Christian Recovery,

Friends and Fun groups for parents to make friends and gain support while their children play will meet at 885 Badger Cir., Grafton. Harrington Beach State Park

The park on Highway D east of I-43 in the Town of Belgium is open daily. Admission is a Wisconsin State Park sticker. Daily stickers are $7 for Wisconsin residents and $10 for nonresidents. An annual sticker is available to $25 for Wisconsin-licensed vehicles and $35 for out-of-state vehicles. An annual senior resident pass is $10. Park users with more than one vehicle may purchase additional stickers for half price. Admission stickers are available at the park. Eghart House

The restored Victorian house at 302 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, is furnished with items from the Judge Eghart family and donations from Port Washington families who lived in the city at the turn of the century. Guides are available.

The house is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays through August.
Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children and $5 for families.

Port Light Station

This 1860-building at 311 Johnson St., Port Washington, originally served as a lighthouse and is now restored. A former generator room on the site is a museum that features a changing display of historic Port Washington artifacts.

The Light Station, which is maintained by the Port Washington Historical Society, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, or by appointment. Group appointments are available by appointment. The Light Station closes for the season on Oct. 8.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 7 to 17. Younger children will be admitted free with their parents. For information, call 284-7240.


Pioneer Village

Ozaukee County museum has 24 buildings and display areas, as well as a gift shop, that date from 1840 to 1910. It is open from noon to 5 p.m. weekends from Memorial Day weekend through the second week in October. Costumed guides assist visitors. Craft demonstrations are held Sundays.

Admission is usually $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, $2 for children ages 5 to 11 and free for children younger than 5.

Pioneer Village is at 4880 Hwy. I, next to Hawthorne Hills Park in the Town of Saukville.
