The future of the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District swimming pool will top the agenda for the Wednesday, June 6, School Board meeting.

The board, which meets at 6:30 p.m., will review a report prepared by a committee that studied the future uses of the pool.

Technical education teacher Fred Nicora  is writing the report base on the committee’s discussions. Among the issues examined by the committee are fees charged by other school districts and the possibility of the pool being managed by an outside organization or business, he said.

The only public swimming pool in the two communities, the district facility is well-used by the community but is showing its age. It recently underwent repairs, and officials said that swimming lessons that were expected to be delayed will now begin on
June 6 as originally scheduled.
Also on Wednesday, the board is expected to hire a teacher to lead the technical education program, Supt. Steve Shaw said.

The School Board was also scheduled to meet Wednesday, June 1, to review bids from health-insurance providers in closed session.

The district currently purchases insurance from WEA Trust, as most districts have traditionally done. But because the pending state budget-repair bill would not require school systems to negotiate insurance benefits, some districts are seeking bids from other carriers.
